What is an IP address?
An IP address is a unique label assigned to every device connected to the internet. It tells other computers where to send the data you ask for — like a return address on an envelope.
Your IP can reveal your approximate location, who your internet service provider is, and roughly when you're online. It can't reveal your name or home address directly, but combined with other data, it can identify you.
